Chris Merkels

Chris is a Senior Tax Accountant at James Castaldo CPA & Associates, where he has been a member of the firm since 2022. He provides full-service accounting and tax solutions for small businesses, with specialized expertise in non-profit organizations, restaurants, and transportation companies. Chris also has extensive experience working with high-net-worth individuals, foreign tax matters, and representing clients before the IRS.

Prior to joining the firm, Chris served as Bookkeeper at Bay Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Supply Inc. and worked as a Credentialed Tax Expert with Turbo Tax, where he developed a strong foundation in complex tax preparation and client advisory services.

Chris is highly proficient in QuickBooks and the firm’s tax preparation software, enabling him to deliver accurate and timely tax returns. He earned his Bachelor of Accounting from St. Joseph’s College in 2010 and has been and enrolled agent since 2015.
